The Town’s definition of Kennel is a commercial operation that provides food and shelter and care of animals for purposes not primarily related to medical care (a “kennel” may or may not be run by or be associated with a veterinarian); or engages in the breeding of animals for sale. “Kennel” also includes the harboring or maintenance or noncommercial groups of five or more dogs of licensing age.
The Dog Control Officer and Shelter Services
Every city, town, and village must provide dog services in order that the state and local dog laws and ordinances may be enforced and that lost and stray dogs may be picked up and humanely cared for until they can be reunited with their owner.
IF YOUR DOG IS SEIZED
All strays are held at Scottsville Veterinary Hospital for five working days. They are then put up for adoption. Call us as soon as possible.
To redeem the dog, the owner must pay an impoundment fee and a daily board fee, and have a NYS dog license.
